No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction at anytime.
There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction,
a blessed unrest keeps us marching and makes us more alive than others.

Sticky note nostalgia

I was just talking to jo3. It is indeed true that this whole office will be shut down. jo3 has managed to get a deal where he can stay in Denver and work from home. He expects that after

about six months they'll pressure him to move again, but at least he's not going anywhere for a while.

I was reminded just a minute ago of a story from the old, old days of jo3 and I working together. I started my career in computers as a desktop publisher. We had a very goofy, enjoyable work atmosphere in those days. In particular, we used to put little sticky notes on each other's backs. They said things like "Still devastated that they cancelled B.J. and the Bear" or "Don't bother me, I'm thinking about pie". Just stupid little things. There were millions of them which I can't remember now. The sometimes became elaborate, with a long string of related attacks going back and forth for weeks.

The thing in particular I was remembering is the time that I walked over to the local deli to get a sandwich, and walked back to work. As I was sitting down a sticky note fell off my back.

It said "absolutely amazed at how quickly the laxative worked". Which explained all the weird looks I got at the deli.

I miss those days.
