how i sleep

last night i tried to go to bed early (for me). i lay in bed for about forty minutes, wide awake. so i got up, went out to the couch with my PalmPilot and an eBook. five minutes of reading, and i was sleepy as hell again.

two nights ago at this point i'd gotten up and gone back to bed, where i immediately became completely awake again.

last night i made a conscious decision to fall asleep on the couch. i woke up a couple of times but fell back asleep easily. at about 5:30 this morning i got up and climbed into bed, and fell asleep easily again.

so overall it was a pretty good night's sleep. of course, it was still immensely hard to get out of bed when the alarm went off, and i still staggered into work fifteen minutes late, and i'm still groggy and tired this morning.

what was it Willem Dafoe said in Shadow of the Vampire? "I feed now like an old man pees, infrequently and in dribbles."
